2020 INLNA Convention and COVID-19 Pandemic
The INLNA is committed to protecting our members and looking out for the wellbeing of our communities. In light of the recent advisories from provincial and federal bodies, current travel restrictions, the growing number of public events being cancelled, and concern for our members amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision in consultation with the Interlake Convention Committee to cancel the 2020 annual Convention of the Icelandic National League of North America scheduled for April 23 to 25, in Gimli, MB.
The Convention Committee is in the process of withdrawing from convention agreements and the INLNA executive is working to develop a plan to hold the 2020 Annual General Meeting and to acknowledge the 2020 INLNA award recipients.
If you had made arrangements to attend:
to cancel your reservation at the Lakeview Hotel please call toll free 1-877-355-3500; no penalty will be incurred
if you booked a flight with Air Canada or WestJet, both airlines are offering cancellations or changes with little or no fees; the most current information is online
your convention registration (and any extras such as the tour, extra Gala ticket, etc) will be automatically refunded by the Convention Committee; there is no need to contact the committee but please allow 20 days for processing
The INLNA board expresses its gratitude to the Manitoba Interlake clubs, their Convention Committee, and many volunteers for all they have done to organize the 2020 annual Convention and its deep regret that it was necessary to cancel the Convention after so much hard work has been invested in it. We know many of you will be disappointed but the health and safety of our members is paramount. Thank you.
Arlene Brandson Darknell, Chairperson, 2020 Interlake Convention Committee
