The Icelandic Canadian Club of Toronto, in partnership with Ryerson University School of Image Arts, the Consulate of Finland, and Finnish Studies at the University of Toronto, presents Nordic Nights, a monthly film series screened in the colder months of the year. We alternate between Icelandic and Finnish films, with a break in December, and beforehand, Ryerson students present their short films of their visits to Iceland or Finland, as the case may be.
Coming up on February 23rd at 7 PM is a screening of And Breathe Normally. At the edge of Iceland’s Reykjanes peninsula, two women’s lives will intersect – for a brief moment – while being trapped by unforeseen circumstances. Between a struggling single mother from Iceland and an asylum seeker from Africa, an intimate bond will form as both fight to get their lives back on track.
Screenings are being held virtually during the pandemic, and are free to attend, and we accept donations, which go into a pot specifically for Nordic Nights (as sometimes we need to pay screening fees). The registration link for the screening is at https://www.icct.info/event/nordic-nights-and-breathe-normally-andid-edlilega
