Awards Applications & Nomination Criteria

The following information outlines the criteria for various awards offered by the Icelandic National League of North America (INLNA).

Nominations can be submitted by any member of an INLNA organization (i.e., chapter/club, affiliate, associate, individual).

Applications can make their own submissions for the Convention Registration Awards.

Nominations/Applications for awards must be sent by email to the INLNA Board of Directors by January 31st of each year. Full instructions can be found on the Criteria Sheet. 

Award recipients do not need to attend the convention to receive the award.

  • Joan Inga Eyolfson Cadham Award

  • Laurence S. G. Johnson Lifetime Achievement Award

  • Convention Registration Awards

 

Nomination/Application Process

PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION OF A NOMINATION

  1. Please review the criteria to determine which award you wish to submit a nomination for or apply for.

  2. Complete the Nomination/Application Form. All awards use the same form.

  3. Submit the form to the INLNA by email (inlofna@gmail.com) by January 31st.

Choose the format you’d prefer. Fillable forms are best for filling in online if you have Microsoft Word. PDF forms are compatible with all computers and are the best choice if you’d like to print it out, fill it in, and scan or take a picture to send it back by email.

 

Strong Is the Bond (Römm Er Sú Taug) Award 

The Strong Is the Bond or Römm Er Sú Taug award is given to an individual who has served our Icelandic communities for over 15 years, particularly in strengthening the bond between North America and Iceland. This award is determined by the INLNA Board of Directors and is not necessarily awarded each year. 

To be considered for this award, individuals must:

  • Be a current member in good standing of INL Iceland or an INLNA organization (ie.: chapter/club, affiliate, associate, or individual). 

  • Have demonstrated a commitment to fostering relationships across borders between Canada, the United States, Iceland, and beyond.

  • Have volunteered locally or internationally to promote all things Icelandic in a positive way. 

  • Have had involvement in some of the following: international programs, events, education, Icelandic language, heritage, culture, online projects, and more.

 

Award Announcements 

All nominations and applications received at the INLNA office by the January 31st deadline will be reviewed by the INLNA Board Members.

The INLNA Board of Directors will notify all nominators of the Board’s decision (usually by end of February).

The INLNA Board of Directors will only send a congratulatory letter to award recipients.

Awards will be presented during the Awards Ceremony at the next INLNA Convention. 

Convention registration award recipients will be notified before the convention.
