The Annual Walk to the Rock happens every 21st of October to commemorate the day the Icelandic pioneer settlers first set foot on their Icelandic Settlement Reserve on the shores of Lake Winnipeg, just south of what is now the town of Gimli. Each year, we honour our ancestors on this special day with a three km walk along the lake shore from Gimli to the White Rock Memorial on Willow Island.
